The Worst Non Valentine's Valentine's

Ok, this was the worst Non Valentine's Valentine's Day ever.
Does that make since?
Well, we do not really celebrate Valentine's but it is all around us so it hard to completely ignore the day.

Well, let me give you a little back story.
J had a check, a $400 check, that he kept in the car for me to deposit.
Monday morning, I got off work after a 12 hour shift and took both kids to school.
I did not go to sleep in between because lately, if I fall asleep I have been forgetting to wake up and pick up the kids.
So yes, I was pretty tired after being up for almost 24 hours.

Monday was the day before Valentine's. After I picked up the kids, we went around town to find all the things they needed for their class parties.
In the middle of this all, J calls me and tells me to deposit the check.
When I got back to the car I found a crumpled folded piece paper known as the $400 check.

I was going to use the new Chase feature where you take a pic of the check and deposit it.
I picked up my phone and it died.

I have no idea what happened after this. I do not know what I did with the check.
I do recollect screaming about the kids fighting in the back seat while I was looking at the check.
I did stop at the Dollar Tree. Could the check have fallen out of the car. I have no idea.

All I know is that I have searched high and low and that darn check is nowhere to be found.
I even went back to the parking lot and walked around!
Now of course J is mad at me because 400 whole dollars is gone.
I am upset because I lost it but I just console myself by thinking well...we never really had the money. I mean, its not like someone took the money out of our account.

Valentine's came and he woke up and left for work quietly. He did not call me all day from work. Nothing.
He finally called me around 3:30 pm and asked me if I found the check. Umm...no, the check is gone! It was awkward. I could tell he wanted to say something . I do not know what. I hung up on him because I was frustrated. Come to think of it, we have never really gone that long with out speaking to each other. It was less than 24 hours, but J is pretty obsessed with me.

When he came home from work. He had these things:

The two things I hate the most for V-day! Well at least I got a dozen half dead roses instead of that single one!

He told me how much he loved me and that he was sorry and just needed time to think about the situation.
I realized that he had a right to be mad because I did totally lose $400. Wouldn't anyone be mad if $400 was lost? I owned up to my mistake but I also reminded him of what I do. Not only do I get off work at 7am,  I finish getting the kids ready for school, take them to school, pick them up, do grocery shopping, and just simply take care of everything. I do get delusional at some point during the day.

It turns out, I was mad at myself because I lost the money. J was mad because I acted like I did not care. We were both mad at each others reactions to the situation.

So in our 10 Non V-day's V-day's together, it was the worst ever!

Until night came and the kids went to sleep.

Wow, make up love making is...umm....I can't even explain...

Let's just say I just might start making him upset more often!

It's great when we open up with our spouses and see each other perspective. It's moments like these that bring us closer. Great non Valentine's Day, Valentine's Day story:)

  8. Thanks everyone for the concern! The check was a personal one and I do not think the person want to re-issue after stopping payment. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. The issuer could have really needed that money for something.
